Marlow People Solutions, Inc. (MPSI), an emerging land-based recruitment agency, is making strides in delivering workforce capabilities. MPSI has enlisted the United Marine Training Center (UMTC) as its assessment arm for the recently conducted Welding Assessment of pre-qualified applicants for Trotech , South Africa.
Trotech is a renowned specialist company in engineering, designing, manufacturing, and installing various bulk storage tanks. It was designed according to its specific standards and serves as a gateway for Filipino welders to showcase their expertise internationally.
Tony Galvez (President), Donald Bautista (Managing Director), Vera Dadula (OIC Engine Training), and the Engine instructors meticulously planned all
necessary assessment arrangements to ensure the activity ran smoothly and effectively, and provided a comprehensive evaluation of each participant’s skill.
Assessment by Expert Instructors
For three days, Rudi Venter, Construction Manager and Representative of Trotech, personally observed the thorough assessment conducted by UMTC expert instructors Danilo Hernandez and Rommel Cabrera.
Each candidate was evaluated on their ability to weld plates in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), as well as on their performance with pipes in the 6G position using SMAW and Gas Tungsten Inert Gas (GTAW).
These positions are critical in assessing the versatility and skill required for various welding scenarios, ensuring that the crew can meet the highest industry standards.
Trotech's assessment promoted inclusivity by recognizing the talented participants' diverse skill sets. They also offered alternative pathways, such as boilermaker and grinder positions, to ensure all applicants would have a career opportunity.
Collaboration with Testing Center Partner
To uphold UMTC’s commitment to excellence, the assessment results were sent to the trusted testing partner, Centrotest Asia, Inc. This additional validation step ensures that the welding outcomes comply with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code section IX, which defines the specific essential variables for the welding process.
This collaborative approach guarantees that the evaluation process is precise and dependable and maintains integrity according to the international codes and standards of the leading global developer.
Milestone for UMTC
This activity marks one of UMTC's most significant undertakings, showcasing the center’s ability to assess skilled personnel and provide accurate and reliable results.
It reflects the professionalism and expertise of its instructors and their unwavering commitment to enhancing the skills and qualifications of industry professionals.
UMTC extends its gratitude to Marlow People Solutions Inc. and Trotech. We look forward to further collaborations to promote safety, efficiency, and excellence in land-based sectors.
