ETO Training Program
Modern technology is rapidly transforming the shipping industry. As more technologies are incorporated into seagoing vessels, the role of the ETO becomes increasingly critical.
UMTC takes pride in consistently producing world-class cadets who can compete with the best in the industry. Our 18 years as a trusted institution in shipping have produced over 5,000 cadets deployed all over the world, known not only for their technical skills but also for exhibiting the dedication, integrity, and strength of character expected of future officers.
Our MARINA-approved ETO program continues this tradition of excellence. It ensures that our cadets learn from the best in the industry and are immersed in training environments as close as possible to the actual shipping vessel. Our curriculum is one of the most technologically advanced, strengthened by our world-class facilities and global network of partners.
Why Choose Us?
Stringent Screening Process for Aspiring Cadets
Our screening process is one of the most rigid and strenuous in the industry. It consistently produces alumni who are not only competent future officers but also have good character.
Top Caliber Facilities and Instructors
Our continuous investments in technology and global partnerships have enabled us to consistently provide the industry's most technologically aligned facilities and competent instructors.
Holistic Training Approach
Our holistic approach to training proves to be our strength. Starting with a 5-month land-based training, followed by on-board immersion with the Training Record Book (TRB), completes the training cycle. Our lines are always open to any challenges they have on board, whether personal or technical.
Debriefing after embarkation provides us with a clearer understanding of how to improve our program continually. It is essential to note that during these times, character, discipline, and commitment are consistently emphasized and remain at the forefront of learning.
