On 17 January 2025, United Marine Training Center (UMTC) and its land-based agency partner, Marlow People Solutions Inc. (MPSI), had the distinct honor of hosting a delegation from Finland comprising government representatives and private sector employers. This high-level visit underscored the growing collaboration between Finnish employers and Filipino workers, fostering mutual opportunities for workforce development and skills enhancement on an international scale.
The Ministry of Employment and Business Finland Executives were welcomed with warm Filipino hospitality. The visit commenced with a luncheon meeting, setting the stage for insightful discussions on employment opportunities and workforce development. The guests were also taken on an extensive tour of UMTC’s state-of-the-art facilities and Marlow People Solutions’ operations.
Showcasing Excellence in Training and Development
The tour highlighted UMTC's comprehensive training and recruitment capabilities. A key focus of the visit was the Welding Training and Assessment and the Lathe Machine Training and Assessment.
1. Welding Training: The delegation observed rigorous, hands-on welding training programs designed to meet the exacting standards of international employers. They were impressed by the equipment and realistic training scenarios that ensure trainees develop the precision and skill required for demanding welding tasks in global industries.
2. Office Operations: Guests were given a detailed walkthrough of Marlow People Solutions’ office operations, showcasing efficient recruitment processes, meticulous documentation workflows, and the seamless integration of training and deployment preparation. This tour portion demonstrated the commitment to streamlining operations while focusing on quality and compliance.
In addition to these focal areas, the guests were introduced to UMTC's broader training ecosystem. This includes state-of-the-art simulators, laboratories, and practical training areas that create a supportive environment for trainee development.
