ETO Training
What should you expect once you’re qualified to be an Electro-Technical Officer?
Recent advancements in maritime technology have continually increased the need for skilled electrotechnical officers to ensure that ships are safe and operating correctly.
As a certified Electro-Technical Officer, you will most likely work under a Chief Engineer and be treated as a higher-ranking Electrical Officer. Electro-Technical Officer Course

In this UMTC training program, you will start with a 5-month land-based training followed by onboard immersion with the Training Record Book (TRB). You will learn how to:

Ship's Catering (NC III)

This course is for cooks who aim to apply their culinary skills on board a marine vessel’s galley. A Ship’s cook is an integral part of a ship’s crew, as nutrition is essential to keep the crew healthy and well-nourished to continue performing physically demanding tasks.
In compliance with Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 A3.2 and approved ILO Guidelines on the training, the candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Must have completed Basic Training (BT)
- Ship’s Security Awareness and Seafarers with Designated Security Duties Training (SSA/SDSD)
- Must have at least 3 months of relevant service or be a degree holder in Hotel and Restaurant Management
What should you expect from this course?
In this Ship Catering Services Course, you will undergo training for 20 days, gaining knowledge in food safety and sanitation, waste management, occupational health and safety hazards, menu creation, planning, provision, stock control, preparing and cooking various menu selections, and overall galley management.
As with other positions, you can start as a Trainee Cook or a Third Cook once you have completed your training and certification, and then work your way up to Chief Cook.
