Crane Handling Simulator

The course aims to enhance seafarers' knowledge, understanding, and proficiency who operate pedestal cranes on board ships.

Training Outcome/s:

• describe the mechanical parts of a ship’s cargo handling gear
• apply the safety guidelines and precautions in operating pedestal and heavy lift cranes
• demonstrate the proper use of hand signals
• discuss the statutory requirements for lifting appliances
• examine the capacity of the ship’s lifting equipment
• describe the different types of crane damage
• carry out crane inspection and maintenance, and
• demonstrate loading and unloading operation
