Shielded Metal Arc Welding

This course aims to provide seafarers with practical knowledge and skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), including an understanding of the procedure, proper safety welding practices, and all aspects and technical principles, preparation, and methods as applied in SMAW Operations, preferably in the maritime industry.

Training Outcome/s:

  • understand safe welding practices and principles of SMAW
  • conduct fillet weld using SMAW
  • conduct groove weld using SMAW

Entry Standard/s:

  • Engine and Deck Cadets
  • Engine and Deck Ratings
  • OIC and Management Level Crew

Duration: 5 training days
