3G Welding Training for Class Certification

The course aims to provide training to shipboard fitters to upgrade their skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding in the 3G position in preparation for welder’s performance qualification by Bureau Veritas, in accordance with the approved welding procedure specification based on American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1: Structural Welding Code – Steel.

Assessment Outcome/s:

  • Follow safety working practices in SMAW.
  • Set up welding consumables, tools, accessories, and equipment.
  • Prepare a test plate in a butt joint.
  • Conduct 3G welding.

Entry Standard/s:

Any personnel has one of the following: 

  • Completed SMAW course
  • SMAW NC II
  • Welder Qualification Test Certificate in SMAW
  • 1 year of work experience as an SMAW welder

Duration: 8 training days
