Introduction to Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems

The course aims to provide Marine Engineering Officers with updated training on the operation of marine exhaust gas cleaning systems following MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI regulations, maritime industry standards, and operation manual.


Training Outcome/s:

After this training, the trainees should:

  • define the MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI requirements related to the use of fuel oil following Resolution MEPC.320(74)
  • Compare different local regulations of air pollution prevention requirements against international regulations,
  • Define the different exhaust gas cleaning system technology,
  • Identify the functions of the wash water treatment system, and
  • Comply with international and local regulations regarding wash water discharging from exhaust gas cleaning systems.

Entry Standards: 
Must be an Operation or Management Level Engineer Officer
