Programmable Logic Controllers

The course aims to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of engine officers, electro-technical officers, and electrical personnel in the working principles and functions of programmable logic controllers (PLC), necessary for performing proper and safe operation, maintenance, and repairs of automation, instrumentation, and control systems onboard ships.

Training Outcome/s:

• operate programmable logic controllers safely and adequately
• install programmable logic controllers in control circuits
• download programs into programmable logic controllers
• apply programmable logic control on a marine control system
• operate computer consoles on PLC-based data networks
• perform maintenance and repair of a PLC-based control system
