Ship Handling and Maneuvering Refresher Training

This course intends to provide a refresher and updating training for Deck Officers on the principles and practice of ship handling and maneuvering, and other shipboard operations including but not limited to, the application of emergency procedures during emergency situation, the application of the principles of the collision regulations in different traffic and environmental conditions, and the application and emphasis on the significance of bridge teamwork and communications during bridge team operations.

Training Outcome/s:

• Establish watchkeeping arrangements and procedures
• Determine the position and the accuracy of the resultant position fix by any means
• Maintain safe navigation through the use of information from navigational equipment and systems to assist in command decision making
• Respond to navigational emergencies
• Maneuver and handle a ship in all conditions
• Use leadership and managerial skills
